In 1958, the Österreichische Bundesbahnen (Austrian Federal Railways or ÖBB) ordered fifteen, 600 horsepower, narrow-gauge, diesel locomotives, and for more than 40 years they have proven their strength in service on many lines. This LGB model is an authentic reproduction of this classic loco in modern livery with LGB digital sound. You´ll hear real motor, brake and accessory sounds recorded from an real diesel loco! The drive trucks feature Bühler motors and counterweighted drive rods. The PrototypeWhen the Österreichische Bundesbahnen (ÖBB, Austrian Federal Railways) realized that new locomotives were needed on several of their narrow gauge lines, they ordered 15 of these 600 horsepower diesel locos between 1958 and 1962. Combining new and old technology, power from the 12-cylinder engine is transferred to one axle of each power truck via a hydraulic drivetrain, while the second axle is powered by connecting rods. For more than 40 years, these locomotives have served numerous lines in Austria, including the Mariazellerbahn and the lines from Zell am See to Krimml and on the Ybbstal Railway, where the prototype of the LGB model works today. The ModelThis detailed replica features:- weather-resistant construction- opening cab doors- four-way power control switch- protected gearboxes with two seven-pole Bühler motors- eight powered wheels- one traction tire- twelve power pickups- digital electronic sound system- starting sound- "notch" synchronized diesel motor sounds- safety valve- horn sounds- conductor voice (only with Multi-Train System)- emergency horn signal (only with Multi-Train System)- brake sounds (only with Multi-Train System)- idle sounds (up to 20 seconds)- remote control of sound features (only with Multi-Train System)- voltage stabilization circuit- automatic directional lanterns- one multi-purpose socket- length: 460 mm (18.1 in.)- weight: 3200 g (7.0 lb.)
